Still Looking Out for Her Neighbors
Longtime NET Radio listener Aneta Murray's neighborliness continues after her passing
Aneta Murray was exactly the kind of neighbor you wanted on your block. She invited you over for dinner, entertained your kids and said yes to road trips when you wanted good conversation!
Sharon Wiedel was good friends with Aneta more than 30 years ago and remembers sitting on Aneta's front porch piecing together jigsaw puzzles.
"She was everyone's friend," Sharon said. "She would take neighbor kids on picnics to Ft. Kearny or help them build trains in the driveway. She had us over for meals every week." And the radio was always tuned to NET Radio.
"The only time she would switch to another station was when the Cornhuskers were playing football," Sharon said. Aneta made provision for NET Radio through her estate and made a generous planned gift. "She wanted the NET Radio programs to continue," Sharon said about her friend, who passed away at 98 in 2015.
NET honors this generous Nebraskan who supported public radio as a long-time donor and with a generous planned gift.
